Cosmax Expands Local Consumer Data–Driven Customized Beauty Research

Cosmax, a global cosmetics original design and manufacturing (ODM) company, announced on the 10th that it will begin analyzing the skin microbiomes of Indonesian consumers. The company plans to build a localized database by closely studying how Indonesia’s hot, humid climate affects skin and to use those insights to develop premium, personalized skincare solutions.
Late last month in Jakarta, Cosmax Indonesia signed a research agreement with Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to create a Nusantara Skin Microbiome Map aimed at advancing local skin microbiome research.
BRIN, the presidentially overseen national research agency, promotes joint research and the commercialization of technology with private companies. Cosmax says it will pursue long-term collaboration with BRIN to explore opportunities that can move research toward real product launches.
Using the microbiome map, Cosmax will broaden climate-adapted product research that reflects local skin characteristics and develop solutions for neighboring markets. With rising demand in Indonesia for cost-effective personal care, the company also plans to accelerate R&D on affordably priced products tailored to local consumers’ skin types.
