Sejong City will host the 104th Sejong Children's Day celebration at Sejong Lake Park on May 5. The program includes performances, hands-on activities and food trucks, offering plenty to see, do and taste.

The event theme — "Young dreamers of Sejong, gather! Smile! Take flight!" — reflects the city's child-friendly vision. Officials held a public contest to choose the slogan this year, giving the celebration an added community touch.

A children's orchestra will open the festivities, followed by the main ceremony, where officials will honor exemplary children, read the Children's Rights Charter and lead a group performance of the Children's Day song.

On the main stage, audiences can expect the Do-Re-Mi Friends sing-along, a bubble-magic performance, a street Hangul culture fair, a children's cheering squad and youth busking.

At the Maehwa Performance Hall, families can use rides such as a maze playground and carousel for free, and try traditional games like yutnori, jegichagi and tuho (yutnori is a board-and-stick game; jegichagi is shuttlecock-kicking; tuho is a ring-toss game).

Organizers are also running about 30 other programs, including fire-safety demonstrations, virtual-reality experiences and keychain-making. If it rains, all activities will move to the Yeomin Room and the first-floor lobby of Sejong City Hall.

“We will make safety our top priority so children can enjoy the event without worry,” said Kim Ryeo‑su, director of the Health and Welfare Bureau. “Because we expect large crowds, we ask citizens to help maintain order and follow safety guidelines.”
