Lee Ha-jung, who had been MBC’s lead announcer since 2005, married actor Jung Joon-ho—ten years her senior—in March 2011. She moved to TV Chosun that December.
She had a son in 2014 and a second child in 2019. Afterward she left the network and continued working as a freelance broadcaster. Comfortable in her married life, Lee decided this year to lose 6 kilograms (about 13.2 pounds).
After the weight loss she weighed 49.9 kilograms (about 110 pounds). Before dieting she maintained a healthy weight in the mid-50s kilograms (roughly 119–124 pounds), and she says an offhand comment from her husband, Jung Joon-ho, prompted her to begin.
You look a little chubby in the face.
Jung, who had never once commented on Lee’s appearance during more than a decade of marriage, made the remark casually—and it hit her hard.
From that day, Lee launched into a strict diet. She packed lunches of vegetables, eggs and tofu, drank plenty of water and drastically reduced carbohydrates. Through determined effort she reached her current weight.
Lee says the loss returned her to her college weight. She told reporters she feels great fitting into clothes she couldn't wear before and even feels the pre-marriage butterflies again.
She hasn't experienced rebound weight gain, and Lee says she’s already planning how to keep a healthy figure into next year. Her ability to balance career and family has become an inspiration to many.
