[MyDaily reporter Kang Da-yun] Comedians Kang Jae-joon (44) and Lee Eun-hyung (44) have moved out of their Mangwon-dong home, the apartment where they and their son, Hyun-jo, made many memories.
On May 5, their YouTube channel "GiyuTV" posted a video titled "{Parenting Vlog} Hyun-jo's Family Moves."
In the video, Lee tells viewers it’s their last night in Mangwon-dong. "I'm packing now — it's 1 a.m., and there’s stuff everywhere," she says, showing the frantic scene before the move.
She recalled sleeping in that room with Hyun-jo and spending nights there while pregnant. The farewell felt strange, she said. Moving itself wasn’t difficult, but this is the place where Hyun-jo was born and raised, and that made it emotional.
Wiping away tears, she quipped that the idea of having to sort the house for a month felt overwhelming — and that thought made her tear up even more, which drew a laugh.
She also said goodbye to neighbors. While dropping off a large item, she bumped into the people next door. "I planned to thank them tomorrow morning," she said. They told us, "We were so grateful to have you as neighbors," and I found myself crying before I could stop, she recalled.
Lee added that she hopes to return someday when Hyun-jo understands more and those neighbors are still there. "I want to share more with them — bring good food, exchange greetings, be warmer," she said, closing her eyes. "Tomorrow will be busy, but I want to live like that, even a little."
On moving day, Kang told Hyun-jo, "Today we move. We're leaving the home we've lived in for four years and moving to a first-floor unit. You’ll be able to run around as much as you like." With Hyun-jo’s height marks still visible on the wall, the empty rooms felt larger and more unfamiliar than they expected.
As she walked through the cleared spaces, Lee said, "Was the house always this big? Is the floor always this wide?" She noted how surprisingly roomy the apartment looked without furniture and said it was the first time the room had felt so bare. She wished the new owners happiness and good health.
The house still carried the family’s memories. The couple inspected the tiled bathtub Hyun-jo used daily, the boiler that never broke during winter, the large mirror that made the space feel bigger, and a neat, well‑loved light fixture.
Entering the master bedroom, Lee joked that the room is historic — it’s where Hyun-jo was born — then laughed at her own remark.
Kang said this was the first home they bought with their own money. Though it’s an older apartment, the location was ideal. "We worked hard here even before Hyun-jo was born. Regardless of how work went, Hyun-jo came along. This house gave us the greatest gift, so I honestly don’t want to sell it," he said.
When Lee teased that someone might suddenly offer 100 billion KRW (75 million USD), Kang shot back, "Not 100 billion KRW (75 million USD) — maybe about 5 billion KRW (3.75 million USD)..." Lee chimed in, laughing, "I might even sell it for an extra 100 million KRW (75,000 USD) above market price."
After the warm farewell came the practical challenges. Lee said Hyun-jo couldn’t sleep at the new place yet, so she sent him to a hotel with Jae-joon. The new unit is smaller, and their belongings felt like they would overflow. "I haven't sorted any of it. You probably won't see the vlog of the new house for three months. I don't know what to do," she said, sounding exhausted.
Kang and Lee married in 2017 and have one son. In 2022, after five years of marriage, they made headlines when they said they had escaped a lease and bought a home in Seoul’s Mangwon-dong.
