Sun-ja, a Season 24 contestant on the reality series I Am SOLO, said she’s put off by partners who act calculating in relationships and insisted you shouldn’t date if you don’t have the financial means.
On the 16th broadcast of SBS Plus’s I Am SOLO: Love Continues, the episode featured a multi-person date with Season 18’s Young-ho and Sun-ja from Seasons 24 and 25.
The date centered on “turn-off points” in relationships. Season 24’s Sun-ja drew attention with a blunt line: “Even if Cha Eun-woo showed up, if someone says, ‘let’s split the bill,’ I wouldn’t date them.”
She explained she dislikes partners who treat dating like a calculation — saying things like, “I’ll pay for mine; you pay for that” — and rejects a transactional approach to romance.
She added that dating, to her, should be romantic and a bit indulgent; if someone lacks the emotional or financial space, they shouldn’t be dating.
Season 18’s Young-ho agreed and played along with lighthearted role-playing. He said his own turn-off is when someone takes another person’s kindness for granted and shows no consideration.
After the date, Young-ho confessed he was more interested in Season 25’s Sun-ja and that Season 24’s Sun-ja wasn’t a serious contender, creating a subtle shift in the dynamic.
