Gwangju Metropolitan City will launch the 2026 Pet Care Professional Training program to address rapid growth in the pet industry and develop trained professionals.
The program will recruit 11 participants across three tracks: an integrated course that prepares candidates for pet sitter and pet-care specialist certification; a Level 2 pet behavior instructor course; and dog trainer courses at Levels 2 and 3.
The pet sitter and pet-care specialist track targets five Gwangju residents between the ages of 19 and 39. Applications are open through May 6. Prospective applicants should consult the Gwangju Youth Integrated Platform and submit required documents by email.
Six candidates for the pet behavior instructor and dog trainer tracks will be selected by May 1 based on recommendations from department chairs of local university pet programs.
Gwangju City will cover all tuition required for certification and emphasize practical, hands-on training to meet rising local demand for pet care services.
