Chungnam Province and the Chungnam Culture and Tourism Foundation launched a focused campaign in Taiwan to draw visitors from Taiwan, who rank third worldwide among travelers to Korea.

The campaign spotlights tourism across the Chungcheong region — including Chungnam, Daejeon, Sejong and North Chungcheong — and this year the provincial government is leading the effort.

During the marketing push, held April 20–23, provincial officials visited the Korea Tourism Organization’s Taiwan office on day one. They exchanged insights on current Taiwanese travel trends and discussed strategies to encourage more visits to Chungnam.

Last year, the KTO’s Taiwan office designated the period as the “Year to Visit the Central Region,” launching active promotions to steer Taiwanese tourists toward South Korea’s central provinces.

Working with KTO Taiwan, the province and the foundation agreed to highlight the Chungcheong region’s integrated tourism and transport links — from Cheongju Airport straight to Baekje historical sites in Gongju and Buyeo — and to promote upcoming events like the Taean International Horticulture Therapy Expo starting April 25.

They also committed to rolling out tailored culinary-tourism programs designed around Taiwanese tastes, tapping into Taiwan’s love of food-focused travel experiences.

On the second day, the delegation welcomed about 40 outbound travel agencies to Ilume Hotel in downtown Taipei, where they showcased Chungnam’s most enticing travel draws.

Lee Ki-jin, president and CEO of the foundation, said, “We implemented a range of on-the-ground strategies in Taiwan to boost Taiwanese visits to Chungnam. We’ll keep promoting Chungnam’s exceptional tourism offerings to make it one of the most-visited provincial destinations in the country.”
