Twenty other beaches, aside from Mallipo, will be open July 11 through Aug. 23 (44 days)
Mallipo Beach in Sowon-myeon, Taean County, Chungcheongnam-do, will open on July 4. Taean County announced on the 27th that officials held the 2026 Second Taean County Beach Council meeting and finalized opening dates for 21 county beaches.
Mallipo Beach will open on July 4, and the other 20 beaches will open together on July 11.
Mallipo will operate for 51 days from July 4 through Aug. 23, while the 20 beaches excluding Mallipo — including Ggotji and Mongsanpo — will operate for 44 days from July 11 through Aug. 23.
Hours will match last year’s schedule: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mallipo will also offer extended evening hours for six nights, staying open until 9 p.m. from Aug. 12 through Aug. 17.
The county plans to staff summer county offices, branch summer offices, and tourist information centers fully to keep the beaches focused on visitors. It will also coordinate with related agencies to maintain 24-hour monitoring aimed at eliminating safety incidents.
To support that effort, the county will hire 180 safety and night-patrol personnel this year and deploy rescue equipment across the beaches, including 26 personal watercraft (jet skis), 31 all-terrain vehicles, and two amphibious vehicles.
Officials will actively block sources of visitor dissatisfaction, such as price gouging, to encourage steady tourist inflow.
A county official said, "Having welcomed 1.6 million beachgoers for three consecutive years through last year, we will do our best to operate the beaches so tourists can enjoy themselves and return home without inconvenience."
