Fans were stunned when Insooni’s daughter revealed she lost a finger in a car accident.
On the afternoon of the 30th, TV Chosun’s variety program Joseon’s Lover featured singer Insooni and her husband Park Kyung-bae appearing with their daughter, Se-in.
Answering questions about college and career, Se-in said she graduated from Stanford, interned at Microsoft during her junior year, and then took a position at Microsoft after graduating.
She described the most painful moment as occurring after she changed jobs, while on a business trip to Los Angeles where the accident happened. “On the way back to our lodging with my teammates, the driver parked. I stepped out to grab a bag from the trunk when the car suddenly reversed,” she recalled.

“There was a wall behind me. I was between the car and the wall, and as I stepped back my hand became trapped. I don’t remember getting into the ambulance or much of what happened. Before the surgery, the anesthesiologist — who turned out to be Korean — asked, ‘Can we cut off your wedding ring?’ It was only after the operation that I learned what had happened,” she said.
Se-in added that the doctors told her blood wasn’t circulating in her finger. “If blood doesn’t flow, tissue can become necrotic. That process had already begun, and I didn’t realize it,” she said, noting she returned to Korea a week later. Hearing this, Insooni asked whether Se-in had undergone seven surgeries in the hand surgery unit. Se-in did have seven operations but ultimately lost her pinky finger, a fact that drew sympathy from viewers.
