Going forward, annual leave that was previously taken in full days can be used in hourly increments.
The Ministry of Employment and Labor said on the 7th that the National Assembly passed the amended Labor Standards Act at a plenary session.
The amendment also allows employees who work a 4-hour shift to leave immediately, without taking the previously required break, if they request it.
Under the previous law, workers who had worked 4 hours were required to take a 30-minute legally mandated rest period during their shift before leaving.
The amendment reflects an agreement reached by the \"Real Working Hours Reduction Roadmap\" task force, which brings together labor, business and government representatives. The provision permitting split use of annual leave will take effect 1 year after the law is promulgated, and the change to break-time rules will take effect 6 months after promulgation.
