Is President Yoon's Call for Strict Oversight Enough to Restore Public Trust in Government?

Translation result.President President Lee Jae-myung on the 6th urged a thorough inspection after the Ministry of the Interior and Safety launched a joint safety audit to determine whether illegal encroachments in rivers and valleys were properly re-surveyed, saying the probe must fully restore the public’s trust in the officials responsible.

That day, on X (formerly Twitter), he quoted the ministry’s post about the joint safety inspection and commented on it.

He added that if officials failed to enforce regulations properly despite being given two opportunities, the government should hold those public servants strictly accountable for dereliction of duty, as originally announced.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to carry out joint safety inspections with relevant agencies from the 4th through the 29th to verify whether the March re-survey of illegal facilities in rivers and valleys was conducted correctly and to determine whether any negligence occurred on the part of public officials during the re-survey.
