[Herald Economy (Donghae) — Reporter Ham Young-hoon] Donghae City, home to a wide array of attractions and national heritage sites—from Mureung Valley and the Jeoncheon riverside public theme park to Mangsang, Chuam, Dojjaebi-gol, Samhwasa, Yongsan Seowon and the Eodal beacon mound—has launched a fresh edutainment travel program designed to make travel easier and more enjoyable for families that include members with disabilities. The program, called Gachi Donghaeng: Donghae Picnic, is a family-focused field trip that invites families with teens who have disabilities to explore local history and culture together in a supportive, hands-on setting.
Organized as part of the city’s Education Development Special Zone initiative, the program offers participatory activities—guided tours, interactive experiences, and nature outings—so disabled youth and their families can connect while experiencing Donghae’s cultural heritage and natural beauty. The tours center on Donghae’s key historical and cultural resources, including: ▷ Bugok Reservoir’s modern cultural heritage ▷ Chuam’s Haeamjeong and the Simdong-ro ruins ▷ Eodal-ri beacon mound and Daejin Port ▷ Mangsang Dune Ecology Center, among others.
Applications open at 10 a.m. on the 12th and can be submitted through the Donghae City Youth Facilities website.
