[JoyNews24 reporter Lee Mi-young] Actress Choi Seong-hee pledged to spread hope by finishing the trek.
On the 25th, the 13th "Finding Hope" Hiking & Trekking Class with mountaineer Oh Eun-sun was held at Meeting Square in Ui-dong, Bukhansan National Park, Seoul.
Choi tackled the Jindallae Ridge course on Bukhansan. The actress, known for the web drama Bright Days: Stories of the Saddest People, visited the mountain ahead of filming her next project, Office Life.
She joined the trek at the suggestion of Ye Ji-yoon, CEO of YunStory Entertainment, who is a regular participant in these events.
An avid hiker and slow-runner, Choi said, "Moving my body calms my autonomic nervous system and really helps with brain training." She added that she's taking swimming lessons to overcome a lifelong fear of water and is embracing a healthier lifestyle.
The trek followed the "Walking with Hope" concept: organizers set aside a fixed donation for each finisher to support marginalized neighbors. That charitable purpose gave participants extra motivation to complete the course.
Choi said she regularly prays for the next generation and finds great meaning in supporting child-rearing programs. "I'll finish the course so I can be of help to someone," she said.
She also hopes the climb will recharge her for the next chapter of her life. "I meet many audience members, and I want to use what comes from those encounters to support children in orphanages and meaningful projects for the next generation," she added.
On a clear spring day, participants hiked the Jindallae Ridge route. They started at Meeting Square in Ui-dong, climbed the ridge to the turnaround point at Daedongmun, then descended through Soguicheon Valley back to the starting point. Surrounded by spring scenery, they enjoyed the blooms and joined the Walking with Hope effort to help neighbors in need.
Before the trek, a pre-event featured mountaineer Oh Eun-sun, Gangbuk District Mayor Lee Soon-hee, and singer Kang Seol-min, who all attended to support the program.
