[MyDaily = Reporter Choi Byung-jin] Real Madrid is not considering a return for José Mourinho.
Spain's Cadena SER reported on April 20 (Korean time) that Real Madrid is not considering appointing Mourinho, even though he would likely be interested in returning.
Before the season, Real appointed Xabi Alonso, who led Bayer Leverkusen to an unbeaten Bundesliga title. Alonso was dismissed early after a poor start and reports of unrest within the squad. Real handed interim duties to Álvaro Arbeloa, leaving the club facing the prospect of a second straight season without silverware.
As Real searches for a new manager, Mourinho's name has resurfaced. He enjoyed major success at Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan before taking charge of Real in the 2010–11 season, where he won La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
He later managed Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham. Since 2021 he has led AS Roma and Fenerbahçe, and he took over Benfica for the 2025–26 season. While Mourinho has been linked with Real again, the club appears reluctant to consider him.
The British Daily Mail reported on April 17 that Real is weighing candidates to lead the team next season, naming Jürgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino among the leading contenders.
Mourinho, meanwhile, looks increasingly linked with Newcastle. Football365 reports that Newcastle are searching for a replacement for Eddie Howe and have listed Mourinho among the leading candidates. A move would mark his return to the Premier League for the first time since 2018.
