[iNews24 reporter Yoon Junho] Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province announced on the 29th that public officials from Gwangyang City and Haenam County have continued to strengthen cooperative ties through the Hometown Love Donation program.
Like last year, both local governments organized reciprocal donations again this year through voluntary employee participation. Staff from each agency donated to the other’s jurisdiction.
This year, 150 employees, including staff from the accounting department, participated, and donations totaled 15 million KRW (about $11,250). Both the number of participants and the total donation rose from last year’s 100 employees and 10 million KRW (about $7,500).
Notably, 30 staff members from each locality’s Agricultural Technology Center took part. Employees from Okryong Township in the city and Hwasan Township in Haenam also joined — 10 from each — extending interagency exchanges to the township level.
A city official said, "We will continue to work together to promote the Hometown Love Donation program and support mutually beneficial regional development."
