On the 17th, Dong-gu, Daejeon held a meeting in the district office's mid-size conference room to identify investment projects for the 2027 Local Extinction Response Fund.
Deputy Mayor Choi Won-hyuk chaired the session, which the district organized to pinpoint new initiatives and set policy directions to address the population crisis and improve living conditions. Eight departments presented 23 proposed projects covering childbirth and caregiving, education, youth entrepreneurship and job creation, and cultural and tourism revitalization.
To comply with strengthened, population-focused evaluation criteria, officials reviewed each project's expected effectiveness and policy impact. They also discussed strategies for creating jobs and boosting local vitality by utilizing idle local spaces and social solidarity economy organizations.
The district government said it will comprehensively analyze the proposed projects for feasibility, their potential to attract residents, and synergies across initiatives, then reflect the findings in future investment plans for the Local Extinction Response Fund.
\"We will actively pursue projects tailored to local conditions to address the population crisis and enhance regional competitiveness,\" Deputy Mayor Choi said.
