At 4 p.m. on May 10, Hong Sun-heon, the Democratic Party candidate for Haeundae District mayor, held an opening ceremony for his first-floor campaign office across from Bumin Hospital and formally launched his full-scale campaign.

The venue filled up well before the event began. Supporters crowded the entrance and spilled outside, leaving some attendees standing and waiting.

Supporters repeatedly chanted, “Go, Hong Sun-heon!” around the site.

Immediately after the opening, Hong posted on social media, “So many people came out today,” saying he was grateful and regretted not being able to greet each person individually.

He added, “I won’t be a politician who only talks; as district mayor, I will deliver results,” and pledged to “get Haeundae’s stalled issues moving again.”

Observers said the event functioned more as a base-mobilization rally than a routine office opening, reading it as an early effort to solidify support and build on-the-ground momentum in the opening phase of the local election.

Hong, who served as Haeundae district mayor during the seventh local administration, is again highlighting his administrative experience and practical skills as the core strengths of his campaign.
