Gimcheon, North Gyeongsang Province, broke ground in Eomo‑myeon on an \"all‑in‑one\" tuning ecosystem that will centralize R&D, testing, certification and production, aiming to position the city as South Korea’s hub for future vehicle tuning.

On March 25, Gimcheon held a groundbreaking for the \"Gimcheon Automobile Tuning General Industrial Complex and Vehicle Test Track Project.\" About 500 people — including representatives from key institutions, industry groups and local residents — attended as the city launched an ambitious push to capture share of the future mobility market.

The project’s centerpiece, an automobile tuning industrial complex, will occupy roughly 280,000 m² in Danam‑ri, Eomo‑myeon (about 3.0 million sq ft / 69.2 acres). The city plans to cluster related companies there to drive cross‑industry synergies.

Gimcheon intends to build comprehensive infrastructure that supports everything from tuning‑parts R&D to commercialization assistance, creating a one‑stop industrial platform that gives companies a competitive edge simply by locating in the city.

The vehicle test track component will also expand local infrastructure in Danam‑ri, Eomo‑myeon, including a test track of about 150,000 m² (approximately 1.6 million sq ft / 37.1 acres) and related facilities.

\"We will do our best to push this project forward and, through cooperation with relevant agencies and companies, transform into a hub city for the tuning industry,\" a Gimcheon city official said.
