U.S. forces said they carried out retaliatory strikes against Iran on the 7th (local time).
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a statement that as three U.S. Navy destroyers transited the Strait of Hormuz, Iran launched missiles, drones and small boats against them. In response, U.S. forces struck Iranian military targets, including missile and drone launchers, command-and-control centers and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) facilities.
Earlier, Fox News, citing a senior U.S. official, reported strikes on Qeshm port and Bandar Abbas. The U.S. military said the operation was carried out in retaliation for Iran’s preemptive attack.
