Officials in Munwon-dong, Gwacheon, said on May 8 that they held a beauty volunteer event for local seniors at the Munwon Happiness Village Management Office on May 7 — a day before Parents' Day.
Organized to honor filial piety and give seniors a special day, the event drew volunteers — including Jeong Nam-jo, a member of the Munwon Happiness Village Management Office operations committee — who offered haircuts and nail art to residents of Munwon-dong.
Volunteers put their skills to work styling hair and grooming nails, earning warm praise from attendees.
One senior said, "I'm truly happy to be cared for so thoughtfully on Parents' Day," expressing gratitude.
After the service, caretakers at the Munwon Happiness Village Management Office took commemorative photos along a flower-lined path in Munwon-dong that had been planted in April, for those who wanted them. With refreshed looks, seniors strolled the path and created special memories.
Volunteers said, "It was a small way to share our talents, but seeing the seniors' joy made it deeply rewarding. We will continue volunteering to support the local community."
