Jeju Tourism Organization announced on April 1 that it had hosted roughly 90 leading figures from China’s tourism industry at a “Jeju–China Tourism Exchange Night” on March 30, where it unveiled a strategic overhaul of its approach to the Chinese market.

The gathering brought together delegations from 45 top travel agencies across five Chinese regions—North, East, South, Northeast and Southwest China—along with representatives from 10 airlines, including Air China, China Eastern and Spring Airlines, and reporters from major outlets such as China News Service, Xinhua and People’s Daily Online.

Before the main event, a B2B travel mart paired delegates from the 45 Chinese agencies with 18 Jeju tourism companies for one-on-one business meetings.

From March 29 through April 2, Jeju also hosted a “mega fam tour” for key travel industry players.

Organized in partnership with the Korea Tourism Organization, the fam tour highlighted themes like educational family travel, wellness getaways, village tourism and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions).

◇Strengthening product development to match expanded Mongolia charter flights

From March 26 to 31, Jeju Tourism Organization and the Korea Tourism Organization’s Ulaanbaatar office hosted a fam tour for major Mongolian travel agencies and members of the Educational Travel Association.

The trip was designed to spark new product ideas after charter flights between Jeju and Mongolia increased from seven to nine this year.

Participants were especially interested in developing “learncation” (Learn + Vacation) packages that blend education with leisure.

Because Mongolian travelers can enter visa-free, organizers explored tailored charter education trips aimed at middle- and high-school groups.

They will also back a Jeju-themed episode of a popular Mongolian variety show. The special, featuring four well-known Mongolian stars including Ujin in a “four travelers, four styles” road-variety format, will showcase Jeju’s nature and culture and is scheduled to air on Mongolia’s NTV next month.
