The world's largest hotel franchisor, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, has opened its first directly managed hotel in Korea — Wyndham Goseong Gangwon — as it moves to stake a claim in the premium East Coast hospitality market.

Wyndham Goseong Gangwon held a grand opening gala on the 27th attended by roughly 200 domestic and international guests and has now begun official operations. The event was themed \"The First Light of the East Sea: Hospitality Begins in Goseong.\"

Rather than a standard ribbon-cutting, the hotel unveiled a \"Sunrise Key Moment\" performance that reflected its identity. The evening kicked off with a reception in the Emerald Ballroom, followed by the official opening, speeches and a private dinner gala.

At the event, Ben Schumacher, Vice President of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific, called the opening \"a significant milestone\" as the company's first managed hotel in Korea and said it will bolster Wyndham’s presence in Korea’s rapidly recovering tourism market.

He added that Wyndham Goseong Gangwon was designed as a destination for leisure travelers, families and MICE guests alike, and that the company will continue strengthening partnerships across its seven brands and 29 hotels in Korea.

Wyndham Goseong Gangwon features 529 guest rooms, each offering a full ocean view of the East Sea. Key amenities include an infinity pool, a private pool zone and the all-day dining restaurant Ananas, all designed to deliver a distinctive relaxation experience.

Lee Young-han, general manager of Wyndham Goseong Gangwon, said the hotel will help revive local tourism by combining Wyndham's global network with Goseong's natural scenery, and pledged to grow the property beyond simple accommodations into a new lifestyle landmark for the East Coast.

Meanwhile, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts operates more than 8,300 hotels across roughly 100 countries worldwide.
