Gyeyang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center announced on the 14th that it had held the 21st Hyo Festival for local seniors on the 13th.

The event was organized to express gratitude and respect for older residents and to foster a culture of community support.

Sponsored by the Bodeumuri Volunteer Association, the festival centered around 300 servings of samgyetang (traditional Korean ginseng chicken soup) and featured a variety of hands-on activities.

On-site offerings—including a photo booth, a coffee truck, health screenings, nail art, and other senior-focused booths—drew strong interest.

About 200 seniors attended in person, sharing a meal and enjoying the event together.

Staff and volunteers visited roughly 100 homebound seniors to deliver samgyetang and provide personal support. In total, 300 seniors received these meals and services.

Kim Su-jin, director of Gyeyang Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, said, “It was deeply meaningful to give our seniors an enjoyable time through this festival. We will continue to pursue community-based initiatives that promote sharing and support.”

The center plans to expand programs that provide emotional support and improve welfare services for local seniors.
