Shocking Robbery in Hwaseong: Two Kyrgyz Men Arrested for Cash Heist

Two men were arrested for robbing cash from an Uzbek man in his 20s on a roadside in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province.

Hwaseong West Police Station said on the 7th that it arrested two men in their 30s, identified as A and B, on suspicion of armed (aggravated) robbery and is currently questioning them.

A and B, both Kyrgyz nationals, allegedly threatened the victim, identified as C, with a weapon at about 1:30 a.m. on a roadside in Hyangnam-eup, Hwaseong, took his cash and fled.

Police said A and B were strangers to C.

After C reported the incident, officers analyzed CCTV footage and arrested A in Hwaseong at about 10 a.m.; they later apprehended the suspect B, also in his 30s, in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, at around 7:20 p.m.

Police are working with interpreters to verify the exact amount taken and are questioning A and others to determine the full circumstances of the crime.
