Starting on the 27th, the city will make the first payments to vulnerable households. Beginning May 18, eligibility will expand to include residents in the bottom 70% by income.

Per-person support amounts are: 550,000 KRW (approximately $412.50) for basic livelihood recipients; 450,000 KRW (approximately $337.50) for near-poverty households and single-parent families; and 100,000 KRW (approximately $75.00) for residents in the bottom 70% by income.

Residents can apply online or in person. For credit and debit cards, applicants can apply through the card issuer’s website or app, or by visiting the bank branch linked to their card. For regional/local currency programs, applicants can use the dedicated app or visit their town or township administrative welfare center.

To minimize confusion and improve convenience, the city will deploy several measures: a staggered application schedule during the first week based on the last digit of applicants' birth year (Monday: 1, 6; Tuesday: 2, 7; Wednesday: 3, 8; Thursday: 4, 9, 5, 0; Friday: no restriction), mobile application teams that visit residents, a dedicated call center, and additional staff at local administrative welfare centers.

The city also plans to strengthen in-person support to ensure digitally vulnerable residents can apply without difficulty.

Deputy Mayor Choi Byung-gap said, "We are focusing on strengthening support systems so digitally vulnerable residents can apply without difficulty. We will work to deliver payments quickly to ease the burden on residents hit by high oil prices and to provide tangible support for local economic recovery."
