Term: Three years, through April 16, 2029
The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries appointed Nam Ki-heon, a former professor in the Department of Police Administration at Chungcheong University, as the inaugural director of the National Cheongju Marine Science Museum on the 17th.
The National Cheongju Marine Science Museum was established to give inland residents access to marine science education and hands-on experiences. The museum is scheduled to open in the second half of this year to promote marine culture and advance marine science.
Nam served as a professor in Chungcheong University's Department of Police Administration until August of last year. He previously served as director of the university's Lifelong Education Center, chaired the Chungcheongbuk-do policy advisory panel, and led the operations committee at Chungbuk Technopark.
His three-year term runs from the 17th through April 16, 2029.
Nam said, "With the launch of the National Cheongju Marine Science Museum, I will work to expand marine science education and experiential opportunities for inland residents, and to broaden public appreciation and awareness of the ocean's value."
