Police have arrested a Chinese man in his 50s who allegedly stabbed an acquaintance with a weapon and fled following an argument at an arcade.
On the 8th, police said the Seoul Southern District Court issued an arrest warrant the previous day (7th) for the suspect, identified as A, on suspicion of attempted murder, citing a risk that he might flee.
Authorities allege that around 1 p.m. on the 5th, A stabbed the victim in the abdomen with a weapon after an argument over a personal matter at an arcade in Geumcheon‑gu, Seoul, and then ran off.
Officers who responded to the call apprehended the suspect near the arcade about 20 minutes later. A police investigation determined that A was an undocumented immigrant.
The victim sustained an approximately 5 cm (about 2.0 in) laceration to the abdomen and was taken to a hospital; officials said the injuries were not life‑threatening.
Seoul’s Geumcheon Police Station said it will investigate the circumstances of the incident and then transfer the case to prosecutors.
