Yonhap NewsPeople Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk delivers a congratulatory speech at the Korea Federation of Trade Unions' 80th anniversary ceremony in Yeouido, Seoul, on the 10th.

On the 10th, People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk said, "Our party has reflected that, during the previous Yoon Seok-yeol administration's push for labor reform, we did not do enough to solicit workers' opinions."

At the Korea Federation of Trade Unions (KFTU) 80th anniversary ceremony in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul, Jang said, "When we pledged party reforms earlier this year, we put 'a society that respects labor' first."

He pledged, "The People Power Party will listen carefully to workers and, together with the KFTU, open a new path for labor."

Discussing changes to the party's labor apparatus, Jang said, "We appointed Kim I-sang, a former KFTU official, as the party's labor committee chair, and named Kim Hae-gang, who served as executive vice chair of the KFTU Seoul branch, as the party leader's labor special adviser."

He added, "We also established a 'Labor Bureau' to handle labor issues and policy within the party. This demonstrates our commitment to listen more closely to workers and, together with the KFTU, to forge a new path for labor."

Jang said, "Going forward, the People Power Party will do its utmost to pursue sound labor reform together with workers, including those in the KFTU."

Earlier, after a party meeting on the 9th, the People Power Party issued a resolution declaring, "We clearly oppose any demand for former President Yoon Seok-yeol's political return."

The resolution effectively formalized the party's break with former President Yoon, but Jang, speaking through the party's chief spokesperson, said only that he respects the party consensus and did not offer a separate position on cutting ties with Yoon.

After the event, when reporters asked, "You did not state your position after yesterday's resolution. What is your stance on severing ties with Yoon?" Jang replied, "After the resolution was adopted, I fully stated my position through the chief spokesperson."

He left without answering questions about reports that hardline conservative YouTuber Jeon Han-gil is demanding a meeting and that hardline YouTubers are threatening to leave the party.
