People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk will meet on the 10th with South Chungcheong Governor Kim Tae-heum, who has delayed registering as a candidate for the June 3 local elections.
Jang is scheduled to meet Kim privately at the Chungnam provincial office at 3:30 p.m. that day.
Jang’s unscheduled trip to Chungnam appears aimed at persuading Kim to submit his nomination, according to observers.
Earlier, Kim posted on Facebook that he did not think it appropriate to apply for the South Chungcheong governor nomination while talks about merging Daejeon and South Chungcheong remain unresolved, and said he would apply if the party reopens candidate recruitment later.
