[Herald Economy (Suwon)=Reporter Park Jeong-gyu] President Lee Jae-myung on March 17 ordered the rapid preparation of a so-called \"war\" supplemental budget to support vulnerable households and exporting companies, and Gyeonggi Province has begun preparing its own supplemental budget to back that effort.

Gyeonggi Governor Kim Dong-yeon convened an emergency strategy meeting at the provincial office on March 17 to plan a livelihoods and energy supplemental budget. First Deputy Governor Kim Seong-joong and senior bureau chiefs attended. The meeting reviewed the province’s finances and the current status of the supplemental budget and discussed how to respond to the national package.

Kim said, \"Since the government decided on a supplemental budget amid serious tensions in the Middle East, we should draft ours with a clear principle of actively supporting the government's plan.\" He added that, as officials assess the size of the government's package, Gyeonggi Province will proactively allocate a sufficiently large budget to support livelihoods and the energy sector.

He also instructed officials to pursue revenue-raising measures, including collecting from major tax delinquents and identifying hidden tax bases.

The province said it will focus its supplemental budget review on livelihoods and energy, aligning with the government's policy to mitigate the impact of the Middle East conflict and rising oil prices and to prioritize support for vulnerable residents.
