[News Culture reporter Park Dong-seon] HYBE is launching a video podcast that examines K-pop’s influence through lenses such as science and sports.
On the 8th, HYBE said that science communicator Gwedo and Hong Chang-hwa, head cheer captain for the Hanwha Eagles, will appear as featured guests on episodes 2 and 3 of the Spotify video podcast channel STAN:A’s Music’s Interference, respectively.
Music’s Interference is a commentary program that explores music through conversations with figures from a range of fields. Producer Hitchhiker and singer-songwriter Jin Choi, a father-and-daughter duo, co-host the show. In the first episode, they examined how younger generations consume music alongside the group ILLIT (ILLIT).
In episode 2, Gwedo joins the hosts to discuss the idea that music can also be scientific. The conversation ranges from the physiological effects of work songs and tracks banned during college entrance exam periods to K-pop examples that embed scientific themes in their lyrics, such as Younha’s "Event Horizon" and SHINee’s "Hitchhiking."
Episode 3, scheduled for release on the 22nd of this month, features cheer captain Hong Chang-hwa and YouTuber Razel. They analyze how K-pop is repurposed as baseball stadium chants and examine the overlap between that practice and the mass sing-along culture at concerts, assessing music’s role across different industries.
HYBE Media Studio said it is continuing to bring in voices from diverse fields to broaden the conversation around music. The studio added that, because music permeates daily life rather than belonging to a single industry, it hopes subscribers will appreciate the variety of perspectives.
Meanwhile, HYBE has formed a content partnership with global streaming platform Spotify and officially launched the video podcast channel STAN:A. The company is rolling out programs such as Music’s Interference and ENHYPEN’s podcast The Blood Diary to expand its engagement with global fans.
