Biwon Music Hall’s fourth Sound Residency cohort will present the first installment of their self-produced series, Breath: Spring — Catching One’s Breath, on Friday the 15th.
Each year, Biwon Music Hall selects Sound Residency artists to support the creative work of local young musicians. Selected artists receive a year of rehearsal space, production support, opportunities to stage solo recitals, and invitations to perform in future programs, giving them practical foundations for their careers.
The program was conceived and produced by soprano Kim Chae-eun, baritone An Dong-young, and pianist Hong Chang-geun, the members of the fourth residency class. Framing breathing as a fundamental human act, the trio—joined by flute and piano—maps emotional currents through voice and instrumental color.

Soprano Kim Chae-eun graduated from Kyungpook National University’s vocal program and earned a master’s in choral conducting from Yeungnam University. She performs with the Gimcheon City Choir. Baritone An Dong-young completed the advanced artist course at the Renato Bruson Academy in Busseto, Italy, and graduated from Milan’s Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory and the Claudio Abbado Municipal Conservatory; he now heads the event company Red Butter. Pianist Hong Chang-geun earned a bachelor’s from Kyung Hee University, completed his master’s at the Gnessin State Musical College in Moscow as top of his class, and received a fully funded doctoral degree from the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy. He currently teaches at Kaywon Middle School of Arts and at arts middle and high schools in Busan.
Pianist Bae Mi-hyun and flutist Ha Ji-hyun appear as guest artists, adding depth to the program.
The program includes Schumann’s Three Romances and Fantasia, Brahms’s A May Night, Tosti’s Maria, and songs and piano pieces such as Kim Hyo-geun’s First Love and The Most Beautiful Song.
