Ayang Art Center, together with the Daegu‑Gyeongbuk Art Song Association, will present the 35th Daegu‑Gyeongbuk Art Song Association regular concert — "Art Songs and Masterpieces Night" — at Ayang Hall on Wednesday the 20th and Thursday the 21st at 7:30 p.m.
The concert aims to highlight the value and beauty of Korean art songs, which fuse poetry and music, and to offer local audiences a polished program that showcases the creative strengths of regional artists.
Founded in 1992, the Daegu‑Gyeongbuk Art Song Association brings together vocalists, composers and poets from the region to foster the creation and dissemination of Korean art songs. Twenty‑two prominent local singers will perform a varied program centered on familiar masterpieces.
The program on the 20th will feature Korean art songs and international classics accompanied by a piano, violin and cello ensemble. Selections include soprano Gu Soo‑min’s "Shadow," Bae Jin‑hyung’s "In the Old Flower Garden," tenor Lee Hyun’s "Hometown Village," and baritone Noh Woon‑byung’s "Like a Quince." Japanese vocalist Maya Hayashi will make a special appearance.
On the 21st, the concert will present the essence of the art song repertoire with saxophone accompaniment. Performances will include soprano Yoo So‑young’s "Let’s Return Now," Kim Jung‑ah’s "Seaside Willows," mezzo‑soprano Son Jung‑ah’s "When the Iris Blooms," tenor Son Jeong‑hee’s "Peach Blossom Spring Night," and baritone Kim Seung‑chul’s "Welcoming Spring," offering a range of emotional tones.
Tickets are 20,000 KRW (approximately $15.00 USD). Inquiries: 053-230-3311
