네덜란드South Korea and the Netherlands will significantly expand cooperation on logistics for combat supplies, including ammunition, and strengthen medical support.

On April 22, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Korea said Jan Willem Maas, commander of the Netherlands Joint Support Command, who is visiting South Korea, met with Bang Hyun‑seok, commander of the Republic of Korea Military Transport Command, and signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) to deepen cooperation on logistics, transport and support.

The LOI commits both countries to enhance collaboration in logistics support, transport support, medical support, and training and exchanges. The two sides also agreed to expand engagement at both senior and working levels.

Logistics support includes procuring and distributing combat supplies—such as ammunition and potable water—and the various materials required to sustain units. Transport support covers moving personnel, weapons systems and supplies across land, sea and air. Medical support involves casualty treatment and medical evacuation in contingency situations.

Under the agreement, the two militaries could maximize the efficiency of joint operations in a crisis—for example, by using each other’s ammunition or fuel interchangeably or by placing one nation’s wounded on the other’s transport aircraft for evacuation.

Commander Bang said, \"The Netherlands was a United Nations participant in the Korean War and remains an unwavering partner in our defense. We will build a stronger defense transport-support system based on international exchanges and cooperation.\"

Both sides said they will use the agreement as a springboard to strengthen cooperation for rapid force deployment and projection in combined and multinational environments.
