
How the 2026 Overhaul of Defense Procurement Systems Enhances User Experience

The Defense Acquisition Program Administration (Administrator Lee Yong-cheol) has upgraded the Defense Electronic Procurement System to improve convenience and administrative efficiency for companies participating in defense procurement. The enhanced services will be available beginning the 27th.
The Defense Electronic Procurement System is the military’s core procurement platform, used by roughly 500,000 registered users from the services and supplier organizations, with about 20,000 daily logins on average. Because the system supports work directly tied to national security, it has required a high level of protection.
Until now, users had to repeat a three-step authentication process—login, identity verification and electronic signature—each time they bid. DAPA has strengthened security controls for storing and using authentication data and replaced the repeated three-step procedure with a single, secure initial login. The change significantly improves user convenience.
Also, even when users were already approved through the Public Procurement Service’s Nara Market, they previously had to obtain separate approvals repeatedly to take part in defense work. Under a national systems integration policy, DAPA has exempted those users from the additional approval steps. By removing repetitive, inefficient approvals, the agency expects to make bidding more efficient.
Kim Kyung-ho, acting director for planning and coordination at DAPA (Brig. Gen., Army), said, “We expect these changes to resolve pain points for companies in the defense procurement market and improve operational convenience. Through the ongoing modernization project for the Defense Electronic Procurement System (scheduled for completion in December 2027), we will continue building a user-friendly system and engage actively with our customers.” End
