[JoyNews24 reporter Jung Ji-won] SBS and Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on April 21 at SBS’s Mokdong headquarters to collaborate on global content production. The agencies said they will broaden cooperation across content development, production, AI technology, and international distribution.

The MOU was signed during Tan Kiat How’s visit to South Korea. Under the agreement, the agencies will co-produce dramas, variety shows and documentaries, and will exchange production staff and technical expertise. The pact also covers joint projects to adopt new AI technologies and to develop—and invest in—media platform revenue models.

Tan said he hopes the MOU will deepen cooperation between the Korean and Singaporean media industries. IMDA Deputy Chief Executive Tang Yibone added that partnering with SBS, a focal point of K-content, will help Singapore refine its strategy to become Asia’s co‑production hub and generate tangible synergies.

SBS President Bang Moon-shin called Singapore a leading digital and media hub in Asia, with IMDA at its center. He highlighted that a notable feature of the MOU is its focus on localization—sharing content formats and adapting them for local markets. \"Combined with IMDA’s strategic aims, SBS’s proven production capabilities will help ensure a steady output of high‑quality content for the global market,\" he said.

The partners plan to finalize detailed plans for co-productions and AI-driven media solutions at the ATF event in Singapore this December.
