Jerry K died on the 27th following a battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive malignant brain tumor. He was 42.

In May 2024, he announced on social media that he was being treated for a brain tumor, writing, "I don't fully understand what's happening yet, but I hope I can get even a little better." Despite his hopes and treatment, he ultimately succumbed to the illness.

He graduated from Seoul National University's Department of Communication and Information. He made his debut in 2001 when he formed the rap duo Loquence with rapper Meiksense. In 2011, he founded the label Days Alive Music and continued to work as a solo artist while serving as the company's CEO.

He released songs that offered a critical view of society—addressing human nature, the mad cow disease controversy, and the Sewol ferry tragedy—and, echoing the title of his debut full-length album, earned the nickname "Ma-wang," often rendered in English as the "demon king" of hip-hop.
