[The Public=Reporter Yang Won-mo] On March 30, Ottogi said it will build a system that leverages Rinnai’s appliance-control application to remotely cook its ready-to-eat meals.

Through the partnership, the two companies will connect a smartphone app to cooking appliances to dramatically simplify at-home meal prep. As a first step, they’ll add a dedicated Ottogi section inside Rinnai’s automatic-cook range app.

On that page, when a user taps the cook button for a chosen menu, the app sends flame level, heating time and other settings directly to the gas range. The appliance then finishes the dish at the optimal settings, so no one needs to stand by and adjust the flame or timing.

Users can also view product details and complete purchases right from the page, making the experience more convenient.

The system will cover Ottogi’s core ready-meal lines — including the 3-minute meals and the OZ Kitchen brand — as well as soups, broths and stews. The companies plan to expand the linked menus and services over time.

The two firms signed an MOU outlining the plan on March 25 at the Ottogi Center in Seoul.

An Ottogi spokesperson said the combination of the company’s food-planning know-how and Rinnai’s appliance technology will significantly change the ready-meal cooking experience. They added that Ottogi will continue pursuing diverse initiatives to cut customers’ time in the kitchen and maximize convenience.
