Emart celebrated a win: one of its wine buyers was awarded the Commanderie du Bontemps, a prestigious chivalric honor from France’s Médoc wine region.

Emart said on the 10th that Go Ara was honored with the Commanderie du Bontemps at last month’s Vinexpo in Paris.
Emart recognized Go Ara for expanding its premium French wine selection and for boosting Bordeaux sales—efforts that helped broaden South Korea’s market for French wine.
The Commanderie is a chivalric order awarded annually by the Médoc wine community in Bordeaux to people who have contributed to the global wine industry. It’s one of the most prestigious honors in French wine. With this recognition, Emart now holds the Médoc Commanderie in addition to the Saint-Émilion "Gérard" and the Champagne "Chevalier" honors it previously secured. Emart is the only major Korean supermarket to hold distinctions from all three leading French wine regions.
Emart said the Commanderie award acknowledges the company’s role in expanding the domestic market for French wine. France is the single largest country of origin for Emart’s wine sales, accounting for about 25%. Last year, Emart sold roughly 1.2 million bottles of French wine.
Through its Wine Market—the country’s largest wine event—Emart continues to grow the wine audience. Last year Emart’s wine sales rose about 10% year-over-year, and Wine Market sales have increased for three consecutive years since 2023.
To celebrate the Commanderie honor, Emart will hold a premium French wine sale from the 13th through the 15th. Shinsegae Point members can buy Château Pichon Longueville Baron 2021 and Château Haut-Brion 2021 at roughly 35% and 25% off, respectively.
Go Ara said she plans to keep showcasing outstanding wines from Bordeaux and around the world to help expand the market.
