With this honor, eMart becomes the only major South Korean retailer to hold wine knighthoods from three of France’s most celebrated regions—Médoc, Saint-Émilion and Champagne. The Commanderie is an annual title bestowed by the Bordeaux Médoc wine community on people who have made significant contributions to the global wine industry.
Go Ara was recognized for expanding eMart’s premium French wine portfolio and for boosting Bordeaux wine sales, efforts credited with widening the French wine market in South Korea.
eMart has been growing the wine market through Wine Market, the country’s largest wine event. Last year, eMart sold about 1.2 million bottles of French wine, with wine sales increasing roughly 10% year over year. The Wine Market has also seen steady growth for three consecutive years since 2023.
