Anseong City has just kicked off a pilot program for its Food Hope Supply Center, an initiative designed to build a local, circular food system.
As of today (March 23), the city began operating a specialized facility in the Sinneung-gil area of Seoun-myeon that brings together local-food planning, production, logistics, and distribution. The city will organize roughly 300 farms to secure steady market access and will give priority to produce from small-scale, older, and women farmers to help stabilize their incomes.
The center will expand meal-kit programs for senior centers and increase supplies for school cafeterias. It will also partner with neighboring municipalities, including Gwangmyeong, to open up outside sales channels. Beyond that, the city plans to supply corporate cafeterias tied to the SK Hynix semiconductor cluster, creating a direct bridge between farms and industry.
Equipped with a refrigerated distribution facility covering 2,413㎡ (about 25,983 sq ft), the supply center aims to cut distribution costs while improving product quality. Anseong City says the hub will both stabilize farm incomes and protect residents’ basic right to access healthy food.
