First launched in 1992, the Chungbuk Nonghyup Friday Market celebrates its 35th year this season and has grown into a beloved local-food destination that connects regional farms directly with consumers.
From April through November (excluding public holidays), the market opens every Friday in the Chungbuk Nonghyup headquarters parking lot in Seonghwa-dong, Seowon-gu, Cheongju, where shoppers can pick up fresh, local farm and livestock products at budget-friendly prices.
This year’s market was officially welcomed with a ceremonial cutting of a rice tteok cake, symbolically kicking off the season. The event emphasized sharing healthy, carefully grown produce with consumers and creating a true win-win for farmers and the community.
Lee Yong-seon, general headquarters director of Chungbuk Nonghyup, said, "The Friday Market is more than a direct-sales venue—it’s a place where farmers and consumers meet heart to heart. Through the Nongshim Cheonshim movement, we will share the important value of agriculture and continue to grow alongside our local communities."
