[EPN Enpinow reporter Go Nari] MBN's new trot competition Mumyeongjeonseol has drawn attention after unmasking a contestant who had been kept under wraps.
A preview clip released on the 10th offered viewers their first look at a well-known performer who stepped forward as the show's inaugural ambassador. Masked on screen, he introduced himself as a trot singer with four years of experience.
Panelists reacted to his unmasking with surprise, remarking, "You look slimmer!" and "You've lost a lot of weight," visibly taken aback by his transformed appearance.
The ambassador confessed, "Having experienced great adoration through competitions, I realized that my popularity was just a bubble — that realization made me feel even smaller," and spoke candidly about why he chose to take on the Mumyeongjeonseol challenge.
At the audition, he selected Kang Jin's "Oyeol" and delivered the opening line with intense feeling, surprising those in attendance. He showed a new side of his artistry with a heavier, more commanding stage presence.
Mumyeongjeonseol is a large-scale trot survival show in which 99 challengers set aside their résumés, ages and nationalities to compete solely on singing ability for the title of last person standing. The series has earned praise for its fresh concept of shining a spotlight on previously overlooked, unsigned singers.
Episode 3, airing on the 11th, will stage the "Celebrity Selection" among well-known challengers on the fourth and fifth floors. The program is set to fully reveal the identities of its previously masked celebrity contestants, including the ambassador, a move already generating buzz among fans.
