According to legal sources on the 8th, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 31 (Presiding Judge Nam In-su) will hold the first pretrial conference at 10 a.m. on the 26th in the damages case ADOR filed against Danielle’s side and former CEO Min.
Division 31 is the same bench that previously ruled in favor of former CEO Min in her put-option dispute with HYBE.
In early February, ADOR filed a suit seeking breach penalties and damages totaling 43.1 billion KRW (approximately 32.33 million USD) against Danielle, members of her family and former CEO Min.
In November 2024, Danielle and the other current NewJeans members notified ADOR that they were terminating their exclusive contracts, citing a breakdown of trust. However, in October of last year the court ruled for ADOR, rejecting the members’ claims in full.
Since then, members Hae-rin and Hye-in returned to ADOR first, and Hani also decided to return. Minji is continuing discussions with ADOR.
However, ADOR has notified Danielle that her exclusive contract has been terminated. ADOR said it had determined Danielle cannot continue as both a NewJeans member and an ADOR artist, and therefore served notice of contract termination. The company also said it will seek legal accountability from one member of Danielle’s family and from former CEO Min Hee-jin, whom it holds substantially responsible for triggering this dispute and for the departures and delays in the members’ returns.
