Jung Jun-ha, who once endured intense public backlash after a high-profile on-air confrontation, has drawn renewed attention by recounting how a lasting friendship with chef Myung Hyun-ji became a turning point in his life — and ultimately helped pave the way to his marriage.

On the YouTube channel Hawasu, run by comedians Park Byung-soo and Jung Jun-ha, the duo uploaded a video titled The legendary king-pancake duo reunites… We made 'Dujjonjeon' instead of 'Dujjonku'.

In the clip, chef Myung — who became the center of the so-called “kimchi pancake incident” during MBC’s Infinite Challenge New York foodie special — appears as a guest and reunites with Jung and Park Myung-soo.

Jung introduced Myung as a pivotal figure in his life and greeted her warmly. Park teed up a joke about the torrent of malicious comments Jung faced at the time, and Jung recalled performing an on-air apology song, “I’m Sorry,” reflecting on how desperate he felt then and drawing laughter from the audience.

They shared a heartwarming anecdote: immediately after the broadcast, Jung called Myung to offer a sincere apology. Myung said she was moved to tears by his apology, and that moment solidified their friendship. Since then, Jung has frequently invited Myung to his musical performances, and he even chose her restaurant as the venue for the traditional pre-wedding meeting with his future in-laws — a gesture that underscores the depth of their trust.

For the first time, they also revealed that Myung played a decisive role in making Jung’s marriage happen. Myung recounted that Jung’s mother-in-law called her and spoke for roughly two hours before the wedding. The mother-in-law wanted an honest assessment of who Jung was and asked whether she should approve the match. Myung strongly endorsed Jung and vouched for him, and Jung repeatedly expressed his gratitude, crediting Myung as a key figure in his marriage.

Myung also mentioned that she recently applied to the Netflix cooking competition Black & White Chefs: Culinary Class War Season 2, a show that attracted massive attention. Although producers ultimately gave her limited screen time, she said she felt humbled just to share a stage with so many accomplished chefs. During a cooking demonstration, Jung and Park slipped back into their familiar rapport, trading playful barbs, and Park joked about his busy return to MBC and the year-end awards — a bit of levity that had the set laughing.
