Actress Park Jin-hee, who made headlines after marrying a judge five years her junior, revealed she was recently the victim of an online scam.
On the March 12 episode of KBS 2TV’s variety show "Problem Children of the Rooftop," Park will appear alongside Kim Hee-jung — the two reuniting after 20 years on the KBS 2TV daily drama "Red Pearl."
Park recounted how the scam unfolded. A longtime shopper who avoids buying new clothes for environmental reasons, she ordered a down jacket online for the first time in years. When the jacket still hadn’t arrived after a month and the seller stopped responding, her husband suggested it might be a scam. Realizing she had been defrauded, Park went to the police investigative division to file a report, and ultimately managed to recover her money. The full details of the online shopping scam will be revealed on the program.
Park also credited senior actress Song Yoon-ah with changing the course of her career. Park was cast as a last-minute replacement in the legendary Gulliver Phone commercial after Song — then a top actress known for her cool, urban image — became unavailable. The spot instantly turned Park into a commercial star, and she said it led to a flood of fan mail from soldiers.
