On the 28th, Han shared a handwritten note on her social media. She wrote, \"After six years of marriage, I received a blessing from above and am pregnant,\" officially announcing the pregnancy.
Han said she still finds it hard to believe but that it's true, adding, \"I have become the oldest expectant mother in the entertainment industry.\"
Pregnancies in the 40s are no longer rare in show business. Former Fin.K.L. member Sung Yuri and actress Lee Young-ae welcomed twins at 40; comedian Kim Hyo-jin made headlines after conceiving naturally at 44; actress Choi Ji-woo became pregnant at 45 and had previously held the title of the oldest expectant celebrity. Other stars who have conceived or given birth in their 40s include Kim Ha-neul, Hwang Bo-ra, Lee Jung-hyun, Son Ye-jin, Bada and Ham So-won.
The increase in older celebrity mothers mirrors a broader societal trend toward later childbearing. At the same time, it offers hope to many older or fertility-challenged couples who are longing to start families.
Han married a businessman one year her senior in 2020 and is now pregnant in the sixth year of their marriage. As she prepares for motherhood, she vowed, \"I'll exercise more, pay closer attention to my health, and be extra careful as I step into this second chapter of my life.\"
