Kai said his mother encouraged him to pursue classical singing.
On the afternoon of the 12th, the YouTube series 'Jo Hyun-ah's Ordinary Thursday Night' released an episode featuring musical actor Kai and singer Jo Hyun-ah.
During the conversation, Jo asked how Kai got started in classical music. He replied, "My mother is a music teacher. She enrolled me in many music academies, and when I was young I sang in the KBS Children's Choir."

He described his mother as strong-willed and decisive. "Because she's a music teacher and very determined, she would say, 'If you're going to do music, do it properly — study classical singing. If you're going to study, go to a good school,'" Kai said, adding that she even pushed him to take specific exams. When Jo asked, "Didn't you go to Seoul National University?" Kai sheepishly confirmed, drawing laughter.
Kai expressed gratitude for his upbringing, saying, "In many ways, my parents guided me well." Jo observed that he seemed well raised and asked whether his mother had any strict rules. Kai answered that she wasn't authoritarian. "She believed being close to nature makes a person happier," he said. "She would take me to pristine places and tell me to play there. Even now, when I'm exhausted, I go to nature."
