Rita, a Thai newcomer training in Korea who aspires to be a K-pop rising star, was a surprise pick to perform the OST for KBS1’s daily drama Mari and the Quirky Dads. She released the included track “Moonlight” at noon on the 26th.
The OST production team said, “Despite her young age of 14, Thai-born Rita delivers a full, groovy presence in her vocals, adding a deep emotional layer to the drama as it approaches its finale.”
The new single “Moonlight” underscores the idea that a city’s night can outshine its day, echoing lyrics such as “Moonlit dreams shine so bright … This city shines brighter than the daylight.” The song evokes a warmly nostalgic nighttime mood.
Built on stylish lyrics and an addictive synth riff, the track pairs Rita’s magnetic tone with a steady, groovy rhythm. The more you listen, the more the song reveals a dark yet introspective intimacy that feels like a merging with one’s inner self.
A New Jersey native, Rita won an audition for a K-pop survival program held in Thailand and was training in Korea when she was tapped to record the OST.
She said, “I’m incredibly happy and honored just to be invited to sing an OST in Korea. When I first heard the guide, I thought it was truly beautiful, so I worked hard preparing for the recording. I hope my sincerity reaches listeners.”
