On April 7, the Korea Import Car Association said Polestar 4 sales totaled 952 units in the first quarter, surpassing traditional import rivals such as the BMW i5 (828), Porsche Macan Electric (209) and Mercedes‑Benz EQE SUV (40).
South Korea's EV market has recently reorganized around mainstream models priced under 50 million KRW (about $37,500), making Polestar's performance more noteworthy.
As demonstrated by Tesla's Model Y and Model 3, and BYD’s Sealion 7 and Dolphin, the market has become heavily focused on price competition.
That helps explain why Polestar 4's strong showing in the premium segment matters beyond pure sales: analysts view it as evidence that emphasizing brand value, product refinement and a differentiated ownership experience can pay off.
Polestar has expanded its Polestar Charging Station network at key locations and operates an integrated service platform, the Owner App, which manages service bookings and vehicle history.
It also extends ownership into a broader brand experience through programs such as Polestar Care.
The Polestar 4 replaces the rear glass with a digital rearview mirror, creating lounge-like space and a greater sense of openness for rear-seat occupants while improving rear visibility.
On the Long Range single-motor version, range is up to 511 km (about 318 miles) on a single charge; the dual-motor model produces 544 hp and sprints 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 3.8 seconds.
A Polestar Korea official said Polestar 4's status as the top-selling model in the premium EV segment shows that product competitiveness and brand value drove consumer choice. The official added the company will expand its foothold in the luxury EV market with the Polestar 3 and Polestar 5.
